Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort
One 22 Acre Ocean Front Resort vs Two Toddler Boys
The safe bet was on the Friday night fireworks, the Keiki pool attached to the Super Family Pool; the Saturday family movie night on the Village Green; the slide at the Paradise Pool and the colorful water activities filling the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. It's still not clear who came out ahead but who cares I didn't miss the washing machine or dishwasher.
The property is buzzing with activity but for a 1 and 3 year old there were some things that couldn't be missed:
Friday Night Fireworks start at 7:45 (closer to 8 in summer months)
Saturday Family Movie Night. As awesome as it sounds. Cozy green patch of lawn lined wtih tropical screening, nestled in the middle of the property. A picnic mat, movie strainght ahead and start above. Do pack treats and a nap blanket.
Keiki Pool at the Super Pool (3 ft). Essentially the kids table next to the grown up table. Floaties allowed; inflatable toys not allowed. This is equivalent to playing in a empty room so come equiped with songs, water games or this gets boring quickly.
Paradise Pool (. A vibrant tiered sequence of pools with waterfalls and slides on the far end and a mini slide (toddler friendly) on the other which leads to a calmer kiddie pool (adult friendly). Clearly the reason why all the other kiddie pools on property are no where near capacity. I'm convinced every child here has consumed an entire bag of cookies before arriving.
Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon (5 acres). Family.Fun.Central. The water is pefectly calm for little crawlers and walkers to comfortably play. And if they aren't keen on getting into the water they'll be entertained by junior captains cruising along in all types of colorful jumbo sized water toys.
Downtime options: just walk. If you let the keikis set the pace you will probably find yourself postioned next to them eyeing koi fish in the various ponds along the paths around the property or leaning over a viewing bench to keep them from reaching into the turle pond. You could also find yourself running with them toward the ocean only to stop at the water edge and stare out at it together.
!Pack a small cooler with drinks and snacks and avoid the having-fun hungry toddler dilemna.
